Ireland might experience an unusual weather phenomenon known as ‘thundersnow’ this week.
Met Éireann has issued a yellow status and warned the public to expect snow as soon as tonight, as Arctic winds are causing temperatures to plummet.
Experts believe that conditions look right for ‘thundersnow’ to take place, a rare occurrence where snow falls instead of rain during a thunderstorm.
Connacht and West Ulster are most likely to see thundersnow, according to Met Éireann. A nationwide yellow warning will be in effect from 6pm this evening until 12 noon on Saturday.
