One-third of Irish staff spend hours late at work every week to make their boss think they’re hard workers.
A report from consultancy company Ricoh showed that a staggering 37% of people feel obliged to stay late at work for appearance’s sake.
36% of people also felt this need to stay late was enforced by the fact that their colleagues were working after hours.
The research also found that nearly a third of those surveyed felt being ‘out of sight’ is harmful to their career which gives rise to ‘presenteeism’, a phenomenon where workers remain in the workplace for more hours than required out of a sense of insecurity in their position.
