Met Éireann Has Issued A New Weather Warning For These Counties

There’s more grim weather on the way with Met Éireann issuing a new yellow weather warning for a number of counties.

Dublin Zoo was forced to cancel a second night of Wild Lights as winds are expected to reach 110km/h over the weekend.

The latest yellow wind warning that covers Cork, Clare and Kerry went into effect at 6pm yesterday and will stay in place until 6am on Sunday.

It says, ‘West to northwest winds will reach mean speeds of 55 to 60kmh with gusts 90 to 110kmh in Kerry and in the west of Cork and Clare.’

The latest forecast predicts “very unsettled” weather for next week too.

Met Éireann said, “Windy again today with occasional showers, some heavy and prolonged with a slight risk of thunder in the west.

“Bright or sunny spells also, especially in the east and south. Maximum temperatures 9 to 12 degrees.

“Moderate to fresh west to southwest winds will increase fresh to strong this morning.

“Windy as well tonight with further showers, but clear spells also. Minimum temperatures 4 to 8 degrees in fresh to strong westerly winds, veering northwesterly later.”

Temperatures on Sunday night are expected to drop as low as 2°C with “very unsettled weather continuing throughout next week”.
