Taoiseach Enda Kenny has confirmed that a papal visit to Ireland could be on the cards.
Pope Francis has been invited to attend the World Meeting of Families in 2018, according to the Irish Examiner.
Kenny said that the Government will do everything to welcome Pope Francis to Ireland with open arms. “It’s a matter for the Pope himself to decide if he wishes to accept the invitation,” he said.
