Your Monday movie menu is here!
To start off the new week, the TV gods have given us some decent options to kill a few hours on this cold Monday night in!
Eye in the Sky – FilmFour – 9pm
A ticking-clock drone strike thriller, as Helen Mirren, Alan Rickman, and Aaron Paul all debate the pros and cons are sending missiles towards the hidden HQ of a known terrorist, but with the knowledge of huge collateral damage for local innocents.
The Sum of All Fears – Sky One – 9pm
After Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford, but before John Krasinski, the role of Jack Ryan was taken up by Ben Affleck for this decent action thriller, in which he teams up with mentor Morgan Freeman in order to stop a group of terrorists from detonating a nuclear bomb on American soil.
The Bourne Identity – ITV4 – 9pm
The first of the Bourne movies doesn’t have set-pieces to match the scale of Supremacy or Ultimatum, but it does have fights involving pencils and car chases down steep flights of stairs.
Central Intelligence – FilmFour – 9pm
The Rock is the former bullying victim, who reunites with Kevin Hart – the only one in his school to be nice to him – but now The Rock is a kick-ass CIA agent, and Hart is unhappy with the direction his life has taken. A very enjoyable action comedy, with some great chemistry between the two leads.
Before Midnight – TG4 – 9.30pm
The closing chapter of the Before Trilogy sees Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy take a long hard look at their relationship, and the different directions their lives could have taken, all while on the last night of their holiday in Greece.
Shoplifters – FilmFour – 11.10pm
A brilliant, emotional Japanese drama, telling the story of a family of small-time crooks take in a child they find outside in the cold. If you’re looking for the best movie on tonight, this is it.
The Nice Guys – ITV4 – 11.20pm
A very funny comedy crime thriller, with Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe forced to work together – despite hating each other – in order to find a missing girl in Hollywood.
