President of the United States Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus. The news was confirmed in a tweet from Trump’s official Twitter account early this morning.

Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”

Claiming that they are “feeling good”, Melania also took to social media to update the public, writing:

As too many Americans have done this year, @potus & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19. We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together.”

White House officials have said that the duo will quarantine within the White House with President Trump continuing to carry out his duties “without disruption” while doing so. The news comes just a month before the US elections which are due to take place on November 3.

The hashtag ‘#TrumpHasCovid’ has been trending on Twitter since word got out with people all across the globe weighing in on the matter, including the Irish contingent who seem to have plenty to say.
