Fair City is set to introduce its first ever transgender character to the fictional town of Carrigstown.
According to Independent.ie, actor Jack Murphy is set to take on the role of Ryan Donnelly in the new series. He’ll make it to television screens around the country some time towards the end of September.

This move comes almost two decades following Coronation Street’s first introduction of a transgender character, Hayley Cropper.
We certainly hope this is one of many planned inclusive moves by the national broadcaster.
