An Taoiseach Micheál Martin is said to be limiting his contacts and will be getting an “immediate” Covid-19 test. This follows a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron who has tested positive for the virus.
Coming into contact with the French President at a European Council meeting last week, Micheál Martin has already undergone one test since coming back from Brussels. Returning a negative result, a spokesperson for the Taoiseach confirmed that he will be limiting his movements following the news that Macron has tested positive and will get another test as a precaution.
According to The Irish Times, an EU official said that Mr Macron is understood to have been a contagion risk as of this Monday, however, no other leaders have reported testing positive since. President Macron confirmed he will isolate for the next seven days, continuing with his duties while working remotely during that time.
