These are the nine best movies on TV tonight

Some genuine crackers to enjoy on your Friday night in!

The weekend begins, and you’ve got some great options to kick it off right!

You could check out the brand new Christmas movie that has been added to Netflix today, or you could enjoy one or more of these:

Parker – Virgin Media One – 9pm

Jason Statham plays a criminal who tries to get revenge on his double-crossing team by posing as a millionaire and trying to buy the mansion (with the help of real estate agent Jennifer Lopez) that their next big job happens to be taking place at.

The Fugitive – RTE2 – 9.30pm

Harrison Ford didn’t kill his wife, and Tommy Lee Jones doesn’t care. All these years later, this is still one of the best action-thrillers ever made.

Casino Royale – ITV4 – 10pm

Daniel Craig’s first outing as 007 is still arguably his best (it is either this or Skyfall, depending on our mood), but the action is gritty and grounded in this one, and it even manages to make a very long card game intense and exciting.

Twister – Comedy Central – 10pm

Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt are professional storm chasers who believe they have created a new technology that could help predict the path of tornadoes. All they need to do is find one, get in front of it, and get the tornado to whisk it up. Easy enough…

Last Action Hero – FilmFour – 10pm

Seen as a bit of a flop at the time, this meta-action-comedy has aged very well, with Arnie playing a version of himself that is dragged from the “movie world” into the real world thanks to a young boy and a magic movie ticket. But it turns out the rules of big action movies don’t apply to the real world.

A Simple Favour – BBC One – 11.45pm

Anna Kendrick becomes a little bit obsessed with a new neighbour, played to perfection by Blake Lively, and the two quickly become best friends. But when Lively suddenly goes missing, Kendrick takes it upon herself to find out what happened to her.

Eurotrip – Comedy Central Extra – 12am

When he is dumped by his long-term girlfriend (so she can hook up with a cameo’ing Matt Damon), a teenager and his best friends head to Europe for a road trip and potentially meet new girls along the way. An OTT teen-sex comedy.

True Lies – FilmFour – 12.35am

Arnie again, this time playing a secret government agent, something that not even his wife Jamie Lee Curtis knows about. But when a terrorist kidnaps them both, all of his secrets must be revealed, and he must try to save his marriage and America at the same time.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues – Channel 4 – 1am

The sequel to the hit comedy doesn’t reach the same dizzy heights as the original quite so often, but it is still very, very funny in places.
