The Department of Agriculture has issued a product recall notice for Virapro hand sanitiser which has been used in a number of schools.
The Department of Education has asked schools to check whether they have used this supplier and, if they have, to stop doing so on the advice of the Department of Agriculture.
Schools have been contacted about the Withdrawal of Hand Sanitiser Virapro from the market. Advice from @agriculture_ie is to stop using this sanitiser with immediate effect.

The statement by the Department of Education goes on to say that ‘schools that are impacted by this can make local arrangements to purchase stocks and can maximise the use of hand washing to support necessary hand hygiene.’
It continues: ‘If a school that is impacted judges it necessary to do so, they can choose to close for the day or close early on Friday, October 23.’
Today is the last day of before the mid-term break and students aren’t scheduled to return to school until Monday, November 2. More information on the hand sanitiser recall canbe found here.
