A Chicken Run sequel is on the way after Netflix confirmed this morning that a follow-up to the 2000 animated comedy is coming to the platform.
In a tweet, Netflix UK & Ireland announced that Aardman Studios, who were behind the original, will begin production on a Chicken Run sequel next year.
The sequel was first announced in 2018 but today’s news means that Netflix subscribers should be first to see the sequel to the movie that was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the 2001 Golden Globes.
POULTRY NEWS: Exactly 20 years to the day since the original was released, we can confirm there will be a Chicken Run sequel coming to Netflix!! Produced by @aardman, production is expected to begin next year. Eggsellent.

The original Chicken Run remains the highest-grossing stop-motion animation movie of all-time, ahead of Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which is another Aardman Studios creation. Chicken Run accumulated over $224 million at the box office which is seen as a great success for a movie with a $45 million budget.
The original starred Mel Gibson as Rocky and Julia Sawalha as Ginger and, according to Deadline, ‘Chicken Run‘s follow-up finds Rocky and Ginger living in a human-free sanctuary, having hatched a little girl called Molly. But when the whole of chicken-kind faces a new and terrible threat, they put their hard-won freedom at risk to save their species.’
Something to look forward to for adults and children alike.
