A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in County Laois.
It’s being reported that shots were fired during the incident at a petrol station on the Portlaoise Road in Mountrath in the early hours of last Saturday morning.
A balaclava-clad man entered the station and threatened a staff member with a firearm. He then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. The gun and money were then later recovered.
A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with the armed robbery and is going to court this morning.
