It’s the turn of Manchester United fans to be treated to a Virgin Media marathon this weekend

Manchester United fans haven’t had too much to shout about in recent years but Virgin Media’s latest announcement is definitely cause for celebration.

After last weekend’s Liverpool fest on the Irish station, the greatest European moments in the history of Manchester United will be shown this weekend. The Red Devils have been crowned champions of Europe on three occasions and all three of those famous nights will feature across a bumper Easter weekend for United fans on Virgin Media Sport.

Supporters of a certain vintage will be able to reflect on the time of Best, Law and Charlton when Sir Matt Busby’s men became the first English side to win the European Cup in 1968 by beating Benfica.

In 1999, a 31-year gap was bridged when Alex Ferguson’s Treble-winning side beat Bayern Munich in unforgettable fashion and while the final itself wasn’t a memorable one, it’ll be very much worth tuning in to the last few minutes when current manager Ole Gunnar Solskajaer toe-poked his name in the history books.

Finally, that rainy 2008 night in Moscow when United defeated Premier League rivals Chelsea in a dramatic penalty shoot-out will be replayed in all its glory. So you might want to tell any Blues fans in your family to leave the room for a while.

As well as all of those nights that ended in silverware, Virgin will also be showing some of the famous games that helped United on their way, including the 1999 semi-final against Juventus, arguably captain Roy Keane’s finest hour in a red shirt….

It all kicks off on Friday at 8pm on Virgin Media Sport but Virgin Media Two viewers will be able to watch the 1999 final in full on Thursday from 10pm.

Move over, Liverpool fans. It’s United’s time to shine.
