Driving a long journey tonight? Listen up.
Met Éireann have issued a statement warning those who are driving home for Christmas to be safe and exert caution en route back.
Strong winds and heavy rain are forecasted around the country.

But, what does an orange weather warning actually mean?
An orange weather warning, according to Met Éireann’s website, means the following:
This category of ORANGE level weather warnings is for weather conditions which have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas. The issue of an Orange level weather warning implies that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions.
The Gardaí took it upon themselves to warn motorists of dangerous driving conditions too, on their Twitter.

home for Christmas exercise caution as …Wild is the wind. pic.twitter.com/N5CAsmgmrh— An Garda Síochána (@GardaTraffic) December 21, 2016
And if the Gardaí say it, you’ve gotta listen. Be extra vigilant everyone!
