Apple announced just yesterday, along with other changes, that the company will replace the controversial pistol emoji with a green water gun in the next version of its iPhone and iPad operating system, iOS 10.
The change follows a plethora of devastating incidents of gun violence in the US and across the globe. Apple, however, did not specify any particular reason for the substitution.

Some of the other changes set to be released this autumn with iOS10 include new female athletes, redesigns of current popular emojis, a pride flag, and family options for single parents.
