Latest figures from the Court Services indicate that more than 4,100 couples applied for divorce in Ireland in 2016 with a further 1,300 applying for a judicial separation.
According to the Irish Mirror, Carlow tops the divorce table for the second year running, followed by Dublin,Tipperary, Clare and Louth.
Nationwide, the number of divorce applications per 100,000 of population was 87.4 with nine of the twenty-six counties in the Republic above that figure.
The figures show that Kilkenny, Leitrim and Monaghan had the lowest divorce rates in the country.
